Poker Player Marcus Bebb-Jones Arrested
19/11/2009
British poker professional and GUKPT winner Marcus Bebb-Jones has been arrested on suspicion of killing his wife 12 years ago. American born Sabrina Bebb-Jones was reported as missing in 1997 in Colorado after staff at the hotel the pair owned became concerned over her whereabouts.
Days after the incident Marcus reportedly attempted suicide by firing a gun into his mouth but was unable to complete the job properly, escaping with only minor injuries. During the initial investigations he was questioned by the police, however, despite finding traces of her blood in his car, the authorities couldn’t accurately determine Sabrina’s fate and he was released without charge.
From there Bebb-Jones returned to England with his three-year old son and began carving out a new life as a professional poker player, not before spending thousands of pounds on his dead wife’s credit card. Since the incident Bebb-Jones has won many UK based tournaments but no amount of luck at the felt could prevent the long arm of the law eventually catching up with him.
The poker pro now faces extradition to the US where he will face charges of murder and attempt to conceal evidence and if found guilty he will spend the rest of his life behind bars in the States. He is currently being remanded in custody until November 26th when the Home Secretary will decide whether he is eligible for extradition.
