It’s one of the most highly anticipated stops on the tournament circuit and while the snow may be falling here in the UK, the sun is definitely shining on the many players who made their way to the stunning Atlantis Casino and Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. With the legal age for gambling being 18 in the Bahamas the tournament has become a regular haunt for the internet poker kids and each year their presence at the final table seems to increase. Alongside the young guns were the stalwarts of the poker world including Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey and EPT front man John Duthie who narrowly missed out on a final table appearance. Another Brit who was also making waves in paradise was Hit squad member Praz Bansi. The Londoner was trying to emulate his poker compatriot James Akenhead and make a major final table but despite holding the chip lead for much of Day 2 he couldn’t quite make the final showdown. The story of the tournament thus far though has been online poker legend Ryan “G0lfa” DAngelo. After surging towards the head of the pack on Day 2 the American hasn’t looked back and takes his seat at the final table with a massive 10 million stack. The young player has already tasted success this year at the virtual felt with not one but two WCOOP wins on Pokerstars becoming only the third player in history to achieve such a feat. With the average age of the final table only being lifted away from the early twenties by 63 year old Barry Shulman it seems as though, at the PCA at least, that poker’s online generation are in the driving seat.
