Eurovegas plans for Spain
Madrid and Barcelona are the two big cities that are first in line to become home to the $21 billion entertainment project that includes six casinos and 12 hotels, which will bring an estimated 200,000 jobs to the country.
Madrid is fighting hard to win the project but had several hundred people gathering in the city centre last week to protest the construction of Sheldon Adelson’s Eurovegas complex in their town.
While Madrid has been the frontrunner from the beginning, Barcelona is catching up. Both Madrid and Barcelona are the perfect candidates to be the epicentre of European gaming. For a country with such a struggling economy and high jobless rate, you can see why the temptation is there.
Mr Adelson owns casinos all over the world including Las Vegas, Macau, China and three years ago in Singapore he opened Marina Bay Sands, a huge complex of hotels, shops and casinos in the City.
